I don’t know about you guys, but I really enjoy DAYBREAKERS. There are some slight changes to the vampire mythology that might irk some people (my friends and I argue about the “vampire cure” whenever the film is brought up) but overall I had a blast with The Spierig Brothers take on the creatures of the night. At least there wasn’t any f*cking sparkling.
Deadline is reporting that Australian actress Sarah Snook has been cast as the female lead in The Spierig Brothers’ next movie, PREDESTINATION. Sarah Snook was in the film NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN and was almost cast as Lisbeth in the American version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. The film re-teams the brothers with their DAYBREAKERS star Ethan Hawke. The film is based on the Robert A. Heinlein science fiction short story “-All You Zombies-” and does not actually involve any zombies. Hawke will be playing:
A Temporal Agent who on his final assignment pursues a criminal who has long eluded him.
You can check out the Wikipedia entry for “-All You Zombies-” if you want a better idea of what the film may be about but be warned you could end up spoiling it for yourself. Since it’s an adaptation I wonder how many elements are going to be kept and how much will be tossed, but it sounds like PREDESTINATION could be another great entry from Peter and Michael Spierig. Filming begins on April 8th in Australia.
