We have a new episode of the Real Slashers video series to share with you today, and in this one we’re looking back at the 1982 classic The Slumber Party Massacre (watch it HERE), the start of a franchise about killers who prefer to use large drills to take out their victims. Something interesting about the Slumber Party Massacre series is the fact that each of the four official entries have been written and directed by women, starting with director Amy Holden Jones and screenwriter / feminist author Rita Mae Brown on the first one. To learn all about the film Jones and Brown crafted, check out the video embedded above.
The Slumber Party Massacre has the following synopsis:
When Trish decides to invite her high school girls’ basketball teammates over for a slumber party, she has no idea the night is going to end with an unexpected guest – an escaped mental patient and his portable power drill – crashing the party.
The film stars Michele Michaels, Robin Stille, Michael Villella, Debra Deliso, Andree Honore, Gina Mari, Jennifer Meyers, Pamela Roylance, and Brinke Stevens.
Here’s what Real Slashers is all about:
Ahhh the 80’s. A simpler time where the blood ran red, the boobies swung freely, and the weed was copiously smoked. A time where rampant killers were simply excuses for excessive sex and over the top murder. Yes, we’re looking at an era where the slasher movie ran wild over cinemas everywhere. Today, we’re looking at “Real Slashers.”
The show is Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
