This Sunday marks the 90th (Jesus…) annual Academy Awards and like many of the rest of you guys out there, I am super excited about this year’s ceremony considering there are two horror movies up for major awards with Jordan Peele’s GET OUT and Guillermo del Toro’s THE SHAPE OF WATER.
And speaking of Del Toro’s THE SHAPE OF WATER today we have something really cool for all of those people – like me – that like to think of Del Toro’s new film as the visionary director’s take on the classic Universal monster, more specifically THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON.
What you will find below is a fun retro-style black & white trailer for THE SHAPE OF WATER that makes it out to be a 50’s monster movie. It’s as classic as it sounds and I suggest giving it a watch ASAP. After that make sure to hit us up and let us know which horror film you would rather see win it big at the Oscars this Sunday in the comments below or on social media!
Synopsis:
In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.
The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro, written by Vanessa Taylor & del Toro, and stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stulbarg, and Doug Jones. It hits digital Feb 27 and 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD March 13.
