The Requin: Alicia Silverstone shark thriller comes to DVD, Blu-ray in March

Writer/director Le-Van Kiet’s The Requin, a shark thriller starring Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) and James Tupper (Men in Trees), just received a theatrical, On Demand, and digital release a couple weeks ago, and now we know when it’s going to be reaching physical media. The Requin is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on March 29th, and copies can be pre-ordered at THIS LINK.

The Requin has the following synopsis:

There’s terror in paradise when Jaelyn (Alicia Silverstone) and Kyle (James Tupper) arrive at a remote seaside villa in Vietnam for a romantic getaway. A torrential storm descends, reducing the villa to little more than a raft and sweeping the young couple out to sea. Suddenly, another danger appears: a school of great white sharks. With her injured husband watching helplessly, Jaelyn must battle the deadly predators alone in this tense thriller that rides an unrelenting wave of fear.

Although the story is set in Vietnam, The Requin was filmed at Universal Studios in Orlando. Ashleigh Snead, Aaron Koontz, and Cameron Burns of Paperstreet Pictures managed the production, while 828 Media Capital provided the funding. The film was produced by Ellen Wander and Jordan Dykstra of Film Bridge International.

Special features on the physical media release will include

Audio commentary with writer-director Le-Van Kiet

“Making of” featurette

I haven’t watched The Requin yet myself. There are a lot of shark thrillers out there that I haven’t enjoyed, but occasionally I will still give one a chance, and this looks to be one I’ll check out at some point… despite the reviews on the Amazon page linked above. Alicia Silverstone and shark thrills is an intriguing mix as far as I’m concerned.
