RLJE Films (a business unit of AMC Networks) and AMC’s streaming service Shudder will be giving the shark thriller The Reef: Stalked a theatrical, digital, VOD, and streaming release in North America on July 29th, and with that release just hours away they have put one final trailer for the movie online. You can check it out in the embed above!
Andrew Traucki wrote and directed The Reef: Stalked, which is a sequel to his 2010 shark thriller The Reef. The new film has the following synopsis:
In an effort to heal after witnessing her sister’s horrific murder, Nic, her sister Annie and two close friends travel to a remote Pacific island for a kayaking and diving adventure. Only hours into their expedition, the women are stalked and then attacked by a massive Great White Shark. To survive the women will need to band together, and Nic will have to overcome her post-traumatic stress, face her fears and slay a monster.
The Reef: Stalked stars Teressa Liane (The Vampire Diaries), Ann Truong (Cowboy Bebop), Saskia Archer (Boshack), Kate Lister (Clickbait), and Tim Ross (Wonderland). It was produced by Neal Kingston, Michael Robertson, Jack Christian, and Traucki.
This is the second time Traucki has sequelized one of his own “nature run amok” creature features. He made his feature directorial debut (alongside David Nerlich) on the crocodile thriller Black Water, and in 2020 he directed a sequel to that film, titled Black Water: Abyss.
RLJE’s Mark Ward had this to say about releasing The Reef: Stalked:
Audiences have an insatiable appetite for shark films, which we know first-hand from our incredible experience releasing The Reef years ago. We are thrilled to be working with the team again to bring this new terrifying adventure to audiences.”
I’m on board to watch The Reef: Stalked. Will you be watching the movie this weekend, and what did you think of the final trailer? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
