The Reef: Andrew Traucki to direct a sequel to his 2010 shark thriller

In 2007, Andrew Traucki made his feature directorial debut (alongside David Nerlich) on the crocodile thriller BLACK WATER. Three years later, Traucki brought us more nature horror with his solo directorial effort THE REEF, a shark thriller that you can watch at THIS LINK. Now Traucki has decided to return to both of those subjects – earlier this year, he made a sequel to BLACK WATER (titled BLACK WATER: ABYSS), and his next project is set to be a sequel to THE REEF, THE REEF: STALKED.

Traucki is writing and directing THE REEF: STALKED, telling the following story:

In an effort to heal after witnessing her sister's horrific murder, Nic, her sister Annie and two close friends travel to a remote Pacific island for a kayaking and diving adventure. Only hours into their expedition, the women are stalked and then attacked by a massive Great White Shark.

To survive the women will need to band together, and Nic will have to overcome her post-traumatic stress, face her fears and slay a monster.

Michael Robertson and Neal Kingston are producing the project, which is currently in pre-production. Filming will take place in Australia, with Traucki and the producers aiming to have THE REEF: STALKED done and ready by next summer.

I thought Traucki did a great job with both BLACK WATER and THE REEF. I haven't seen BLACK WATER: ABYSS yet, but if he wants to keep making crocodile and shark movies, I'm all for it.
