With THE HANGOVER PART III holding an awful 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Warner Bros is obviously hoping that their other big R-rated comedy, WE’RE THE MILLERS, will fare better. When all is said and done, what THE HANGOVER lacks in T&A looks to be made up in this movie simply in having Jennifer Aniston strut around in a bra and panties.
The red band trailer for WE’RE THE MILLERS introduces us to a motley crew of characters forced together to go on a drug run. Jason Sudeikis slides right into the Bradley Cooper role of the douchey leading man with the heart of gold while Ed Helms seems to have flipped over to a character similar to Ken Jeong‘s Mr. Chow. All of this comes courtesy of DODGEBALL director Rawson Marshall Thurber and the result looks like a fun end of summer comedy.
David Burke (Jason Sudeikis) is a small-time pot dealer whose clientele includes chefs and soccer moms, but no kids—after all, he has his scruples. So what could go wrong? Plenty. Preferring to keep a low profile for obvious reasons, he learns the hard way that no good deed goes unpunished when he tries to help out some local teens and winds up getting jumped by a trio of gutter punks. Stealing his stash and his cash, they leave him in major debt to his supplier, Brad (Ed Helms). In order to wipe the slate clean—and maintain a clean bill of health—David must now become a big-time drug smuggler by bringing Brad’s latest shipment in from Mexico. Twisting the arms of his neighbors, cynical stripper Rose (Jennifer Aniston) and wannabe customer Kenny (Will Poulter), and the tatted-and-pierced streetwise teen Casey (Emma Roberts), he devises a foolproof plan. One fake wife, two pretend kids and a huge, shiny RV later, the “Millers” are headed south of the border for a Fourth of July weekend that is sure to end with a bang.
Of all the trailers for comedies being released this summer, WE’RE THE MILLERS looks like it is now one I am looking forward to along with THIS IS THE END and THE WORLD’S END. WE’RE THE MILLERS, starring Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn, Will Poulter and Ed Helms opens on August 9, 2013.
