One of the most popular attractions in New York City during the summer, the outdoor exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's roof garden will have an extra draw for genre fans this year. Commissioned to create something for the roof garden, British artist Cornelia Parker has come up with what she calls "Transitional Object (PsychoBarn)".
Inspired by Edward Hopper, whose painting House by the Railroad inspired the design of the Bates house in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic PSYCHO, Parker's "Transitional Object" is a recreation of the PSYCHO house that was built with reclaimed wood from a barn. Parker's idea was to contrast the wholesomeness of the reclaimed wood with the creepiness of the PSYCHO connection.
If you find yourself in New York City, the PsychoBarn Roof Garden Commission will be on display through October 31st.
