If I were going to make a horror movie, I’d probably steer clear of a movie about an exorcism. It’s been done to death and honestly you’re always going to be compared to one of the finest horror films of all time – THE EXORCISM. But another comer is on the way to prove that perhaps not all exorcism movies are created equal.
Like some before it, THE RITE purports to be based on real experiences. It also boasts the services of Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins, which immediately gives it some cache. But does that make it good? I’ll admit that this trailer is effectively cut and gives me some hope. But then I wonder why this movie is coming out in January at not during Halloween or something. Hmm..
