While we wait to see what will happen with the THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS television show that Wes Craven was recently said to be developing, one thing we can definitely look forward to is Scream Factory's August 11th release of a Blu-ray collector's edition of Craven's 1991 film.
Although repeated viewings of it were a part of my childhood, I was never really a fan of THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS. I don't think it's a bad movie, it's just one I could never fully get into. Still, I am interested in this Blu-ray, especially now that the bonus features have been announced.
Those features are:
Audio Commentary with writer/director Wes Craven
Audio Commentary with actors Brandon Adams, A.J. Langer, Sean Whalen, and Yan Birch
House Mother – an interview with actress Wendy Robie
What Lies Beneath – interviews with special makeup effects artists Greg Nicotero, Howard Berger, and Robert Kurtzman
House of Horrors – an interview with director of photography Sandi Sissel
Settling The Score – an interview with composer Don Peake
Behind-the-Scenes Footage
Vintage “Making of” Featurette
Theatrical Trailer
TV Spots
Still Galleries (Original Storyboards and Official Stills)
Sounds like a great release for a movie that may have been underappreciated by many, myself included.
