The Penaverate, Mike Myers, Netflix series

Over two year ago, it was announced that Mike Myers would be starring in a half-hour comedy series for Netflix that would find him playing seven new characters. I must confess that I had completely forgotten the project, but at long last, it seems that production has finally kicked off.

The Penaverate has been created by Mike Myers and all six-episodes will be directed by Fleabag's Tim Kirkby. The series asks, "What if a secret society of five men has been working to influence world events for the greater good since the Black Plague of 1347?" It will follow one "unlikely Canadian journalist who finds himself embroiled in a mission to uncover the truth and just possibly save the world himself. Remember, the Pentaverate must never be exposed!" In addition to Mike Myers, it was announced today that The Penaverate will also star Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe, Jennifer Saunders, and Lydia West. Aside from his brief stint hosting the revival of The Gong Show (sorry, that was Tommy Maitland), it's been quite some time since Mike Myers headlined a live-action project of any kind. Although he had small roles in Inglourious Bastards and Bohemian Rhapsody, Myer's last major live-action role was in The Love Guru in 2008, and I think we all know how that turned out.

As it's been so long since Mike Myers last unleashed his talent for playing multiple characters at once, I'm rather excited to see what he has up his many sleeves with The Penaverate.
