The Others with Nicole Kidman haunts Blu-ray for its 10th anniversary

It’s hard to believe that THE OTHERS is already celebrating its 10th anniversary, but I’m happy to accept the fact that I’m getting old since it means that that the film is coming to high definition. Lionsgate will release it on Blu-ray on September 20.

In addition to the movie being presented in 1080P HD for the first time, the disc will include a behind-the-scenes documentary and featurettes that look at the director, the visual effects and an examination of the disease portrayed in the film. Full details, including artwork, are expected in the near future.

The 2001 horror/thriller is written and directed by Alejandro Amenábar. It stars Nicole Kidman (below) along with Fionnula Flanagan, Christopher Eccleston, Elaine Cassidy, Eric Sykes, Alakina Mann and James Bentley. Tom Cruise, Kidman’s husband at the time, serves as executive producer.

While waiting for her husband to return from the Second World War, Grace Stewart (Kidman) retires with her photosensitive children to a mansion. The children have a disease in which they cannot be touched by direct sunlight without being hurt in some way. They live alone there with oppressive, strange and almost religious rules, until Grace needs to hire a group of servants for them. After the servants enter the home, strange events start to occur, and Grace begins to wonder if it’s her sanity getting the better of her or if there is something in the house with them.
