The stars have aligned, and finally, The Orville is ready for its next mission on Hulu.
That’s right, Orvillians, Season 3 of the space-faring adventure series is real! Titled The Orville: New Horizons, the series will launch on March 10, 2022, nearly three years after the Season 2 finale aired on Fox.
Set 400 years in the future, The Orville: New Horizons finds the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continuing their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their interpersonal relationships.
The ensemble cast includes MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, J. Lee, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, Jessica Szohr, and Anne Winters.
The Orville: New Horizons is produced by 20th Television and Fuzzy Door. The series was created and written by Seth MacFarlane. MacFarlane, Brannon Braga, David A. Goodman, Jon Cassar, Jason Clark, and Howard Griffith serve as executive producers.
While the first two seasons of the series originally aired on Fox, MacFarlane announced in July 2019 that The Orville would be making a move to Hulu. When asked for an explanation about the switch, MacFarlane said, “As the show has evolved and become more ambitious production-wise, I determined that I would not be able to deliver episodes until 2020, which would be challenging for Fox.” He then added, “So we began to discuss how best to support the third season in a way that worked for the show.”
