Less than a month ago, we heard that director Oliver Irving was about to start production on the independent horror/comedy GHOST TEAM, with a cast including Jon Heder, Justin Long, David Krumholtz, Melonie Diaz, Amy Sedaris, Paul W. Downs, Joel Marsh Garland, and Tom Schiller.
Now, not only has GHOST TEAM wrapped, it has also landed distribution, with The Orchard acquiring the rights to release it in North America, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. The company is planning a late 2016 release.
Scripted by Peter Warren, GHOST TEAM tells the following story:
Desperate to escape the monotony of his daily life, paranormal-obsessed Louis puts together a dysfunctional team — his depressed best friend, misfit nephew, a cable access "medium", and an overeager security guard — to mount his own investigation into the beyond. What results isn't just a hilariously terrifying brush with the entities haunting an abandoned farm, but also an exploration of friendship, adventure and the things we all believe in to keep going. Everyone's hunting for something.
Sounds like a fun concept to me, and Irving got a great cast to bring it to life. The July release of GHOSTBUSTERS may be the big ghost comedy of the year, but hopefully that one won't hinder this one in any way.
