The Sitges Film Festival wrapped up its ten day run over the weekend, and one of the films that made its world premiere at the festival was director Christopher Alender's THE OLD WAYS. Now we've gotten our hands on the trailer for the film, which you can see embedded above.
Written by Marcos Gabriel, THE OLD WAYS has the following synopsis:
When Cristina Lopez – a Mexican American reporter – returns to her ancestral homeland of Veracruz chasing a story on witchcraft and faith healers, she becomes the subject of her own story. Kidnapped by a local “bruja” and her son, she’s held against her will for a terrifying reason: they believe she has a demon within her, and won’t let her free until they exorcise the malevolent force… no matter what it takes. As she struggles to make her escape, she slowly comes to believe they may be telling the truth after all. Along with her captors – and estranged cousin Miranda – Cristina’s fight for survival turns into a fight for her soul.
Brigitte Kali Canales, Andrea Cortes, Julia Vera, Sal Lopez, and AJ Bowen star.
Although we have seen a whole lot of exorcism movies over the years, THE OLD WAYS looks like it's an interesting and twisted take on the familiar concept.
There doesn't seem to be any distribution information to share on this one at the moment, but XYZ Films and UTA Independent Film Group are handling the sales. THE OLD WAYS was produced by T. Justin Ross, Christa Boarini, and David Grove Churchill Viste.
