We’re getting a prequel to Pixar’s endlessly delightful MONSTERS, INC. Granted, we’re getting it later than we initially expected — Mike and Sulley got kicked from the November 2012 release date that was first announced, all the way back to June 21st, 2013.
But we know what those scream leaders will be up to in their early days, thanks to the movie’s synopsis (which confirms previous reports):
“Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.”
Original voice actors John Goodman, Billy Crystal and Steve Buscemi are all heading back to school, and the movie will be directed by Dan Scanlon, who worked on the CARS short “Mater and the Ghostlight”.
