A sequel to the Conjuring Universe entry The Nun (which you can get HERE) finally went into production last year, four years after the film earned $365 million at the global box office on a budget of $22 million. The Nun 2 is now heading toward a September 8th theatrical release, and a trailer for the film is expected to arrive online sometime in the next couple days. But first, the official Conjuring Universe Twitter account has unveiled the first images from the film! You can check those out at the bottom of this article.

The Nun 2 is directed by Michael Chaves (The Curse of La LloronaThe Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) from a screenplay by Akela Cooper (Malignant). The writing duo of Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing (The Autopsy of Jane Doe) also contributed to the script. The film has the following synopsis: 1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit THE NUN follows SISTER IRENE as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force VALAK – THE DEMON NUN.

Returning The Nun stars Taissa Farmiga and Bonnie Aarons are joined in the cast by Storm Reid (Euphoria), child actress Katelyn Rose Downey (Clean Sweep), and Anna Popplewell, who is best known for playing the role of Susan Pevensie in the Chronicles of Narnia franchise. Popplewell plays Kate, “a school teacher at St. Mary’s School in France and a widowed, loving mother to 10-year-old Sophie”. We assume Downey is playing Sophie.

James Wan and Peter Safran are producing The Nun 2 through their Atomic Monster and The Safran Company banners.

I didn’t like The Nun very much, but I’m open to a sequel, hoping it will be a step up from its predecessor. Are you looking forward to The Nun 2? They’re not exactly high quality, but at least they give us an idea of what the movie looks like.
