The Nightmare Before Christmas Live to hit the UK with Danny Elfman & more

What is this? It's been announced that Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas 25 Years In Concert event is headed to the UK! Set to perform as a part of this very special event is award-winning composer and songwriter Danny Elfman, who will be joined by HOME ALONE and BEETLEJUICE alumna Catherine O'Hara as Sally, and ofttimes Disney contributor Ken Page as the nefarious Oogie Boogie. Each performance will have a full orchestral accompaniment by The Royal Scottish National Orchestra in Glasgow and London Philharmonic Orchestra at The SSE Arena in Wembley. Leading the charge down in the pit will be conductor John Mauceri, Founding Director of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Together, alongside violin soloist Sandy Cameron, Elfman and company will perform several memorable songs from the stop-motion holiday classic and more!

“Being able to perform Nightmare live in synch to the movie with a full orchestra was such a thrill at the sold out Hollywood Bowl shows,” Elfman says in a press release. “Having Catherine O’Hara and Ken Page to perform with me really made it a unique and magical experience. I’m happy to bring this special night to the UK for the first time in December." 

Earlier this year, the demand for THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS live shows to hit the UK had reached a fever pitch, after December's performances at the famed Hollywood Bowl sold. And why wouldn't they? The fandom for THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is positively insane, and stretches far beyond the walls of Hot Topic department stores across the globe.

Tim Burton's THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS first dazzled audiences when it came to theaters in 1993. The stop-motion animated musical directed by Henry Selick (JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH) centers on an affable member of Halloween royalty by the name of Jack Skellington. As the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town grows weary of the same old song and dance, year after year, Skellington hatches a scheme to bring the Christmas holiday to his people. As the plot begins to unravel, Jack catches the attention of a terrible villain by the name of Oogie Boogie, who more than anything would delight in ruining Skellington's well-intentioned plans for the holiday. In the years since its release, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS has become one of the most beloved holiday films across several generations.
