The Night House trailer finds Rebecca Hall trapped in a living nightmare

Searchlight Pictures has unleashed a trailer for David Bruckner's The Night House, starring Rebecca Hall as a grieving woman trapped in a waking nightmare.

Here’s the official synopsis: Reeling from the unexpected death of her husband, Beth (Rebecca Hall) is left alone in the lakeside home he built for her. She tries as best she can to keep it together — but then nightmares come. Disturbing visions of a presence in the house calling to her, beckoning her with a ghostly allure. Against the advice of her friends, she begins digging into her husband’s belongings, yearning for answers. What she finds are secrets both strange and disturbing — a mystery she’s determined to unravel.

Dear Beth, you sweet summer child. I have a suggestion for you. Pack your bags, and get as far away from that house as soon as possible. Here's the deal: The moment you see bloody footprints walking toward you on a pier, that's your cue to get in the car and drive. This whole staying at the house to investigate the matter is pure madness. I'm not going to say that you deserve what's coming to you, but maybe I am.

Directed by David Bruckner (The Ritual, V/H/S) from a script by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, The Night House also stars Sarah Goldberg (Barry), Stacey Martin (Vox Lux), and Evan Jonigkeit (Sweetbitter). Set for a July 16 release in theaters, The Night House looks to be one of the more surreal haunted house films of recent years, with Beth seemingly being trapped in a mirror dimension of her late husband's own design.

Our own Chris Bumbray got the chance to see The Night House at last year's Sundance Film Festival, and among other things, praises Hall's performance as one of her best. Be sure to check out his full review to find out if Bruckner's newest feature is worth your time.
