The Night House trailer: Rebecca Hall is haunted in her new lakeside home

A new trailer has dropped for the upcoming psychological horror film, The Night House, and a lingering presence seems to be haunting Rebecca Hall in her new lakeside home.

Per the film's official synopsis, "Reeling from the unexpected death of her husband, Beth (Rebecca Hall) is left alone in the lakeside home he built for her. She tries as best she can to keep together—but then the dreams come. Disturbing visions of a presence in the house call to her, beckoning with a ghostly allure. Against the advice of her friends, she begins digging into her husband’s belongings, yearning for answers. What she finds are secrets both strange and terrible and a mystery she’s determined to resolve." The film also stars Sarah Goldberg, Evan Jonigkeit, Stacy Martin, and Vondie Curtis-Hall.

The Night House received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike out of its Sundance Midnight premiere where it has been reported that "audiences could be heard screaming from outside the theater." That sounds like a pretty good sign of a solid horror film. Shortly after its Sundance premiere, Searchlight Pictures acquired the film's distribution rights and secured a July 16, 2021 release date. The release date was then shifted to its current slot of August 20, 2021.

Directed by David Bruckner from an original screenplay by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, The Night House already has an 88% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 24 reviews counted so it could continue what has been a solid streak for horror as of late.
