Our own Chris Bumbray wasn't blown away by The Night House, giving it a 6/10 review after catching it at Sundance last year, but I've been looking forward to this movie for a while because it's coming to us from the creative team of The Ritual director David Bruckner, Super Dark Times writers Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, and Godzilla vs. Kong star Rebecca Hall. Searchlight Pictures is planning to release The Night House on July 16th, and the trailer can be seen in the embed above.
Hall's character is a widow named Beth who is "reeling from shock over her husband's sudden death in the pair's lakeside home."
After a series of disturbing dreams become increasingly real, Beth unearths a ghostly presence in her home that vanishes during the day. An ongoing investigation through the house (and their marriage) turns up strange secrets and a mystery she must solve.
The cast also includes Sarah Goldberg, Stacy Martin, Evan Jonigkeit, and Vondie Curtis-Hall. The Night House was produced by David S. Goyer, Keith Levine, and John Zois.
The trailer makes it look like this movie is going to be a creepy good time, so I'll definitely be watching this in July.
