Tom Hiddleston has brought a menacing charm to the character of Loki in Marvel's universe, but I have a feeling his charm wont be able to help him in this dread-filled tale. Enter Guillermo del Toro (HELLBOY 2, PAN'S LABYRINTH) with a story about an aspiring author (Mia Wasikowska) trying to escape the ghosts of her past as she's swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds and remembers. Sounds like a nifty getaway! You can check out some of the haunts that are in-store with the newest trailer, as well as chill-inducing motion poster further below.
I'm a big fan of del Toro's methodology of bouncing back and forth between big-budget pictures and more intimate ones, and while I'm curious as to how his HOBBIT movies would have fared, there's no way I'd trade PACIFIC RIM or CRIMSON PEAK for them. The one thing that struck me the most during this trailer is that I couldn't keep my eyes off the design of the mansion. Even if his movies miss the mark, you can't deny the artistry involved. I really hope this one stands toe-to-toe with the likes of DEVIL'S BACKBONE and PAN'S LABYRINTH.
CRIMSON PEAK will hit theaters on October 16, 2015.
