Greg Nicotero is a name that has become synonamous with special effects. With such great titles to his name as DAY OF THE DEAD, PULP FICTION, SCREAM, PLANET TERROR and everything in between, his resume keeps on getting bigger everyday. So it was only a matter of time that Nicotero would step behind the camera and direct a film of his own.
It may have happened, but it seems as his directorial debut THE DRIVE-IN may still be up in the air. But that doesn’t stop the master effects artist from eyeing another project called MYTHOS.
MYTHOS follows the results of an archeological dig that uncovers a relic long thought forever lost. It’s stolen by a cult who utilizes its power to resurrect the Hydra, Harpies, the Cyclops and more ancient monsters in order to wreak havoc on modern-day society. The only way to stop these creatures, it’s discovered, is to find the direct descendents of ancient gods living among us today.
The project was written by fellow KNB supervisor Shannon Shea and Greg Nicotero is extremely excited about the project. Even though it’s budget is high enough to scare some studios away, he’s confident the right people will get behind it soon.
MYTHOS definitely seems like the type of movie that Greg Nicotero should direct. I mean monsters, havoc and destruction is right up this guys alley. Lets hope studios see it that way as well!
