Icelandic strongman and actor Hafþór Júlíus "Thor" Björnsson is not someone that I would want to bump into while wandering a dark road within the Seven Kingdoms. For me, Björnsson is the sort of dude who looks like if he clapped his massive paws together, a hurricane of lightning and body parts would soon fill the air around him. Recently, the 6-foot-9, 400 pound GAME OF THRONES star participated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. During that time, Cersei Lannister's undead bodyguard talked about everything from strange fan requests to his dream of being able to fight Rory McCann's The Hound in a battle to the death.
When asked about what sort of fan reactions he receives when attending a GAME OF THRONES event or otherwise, Björnsson responded with an uncharacteristically soft voice and said, "I get big reactions from fans. They’re very nice, and loyal to the show and great supporters." When inquiring about what manner of strange requests the actor encounters from fans, he then confessed, "I get a lot of requests fans asking if I want to squeeze their eyes. That’s very popular. Or pick them up over head. But the most popular to squeeze their eyes out." Whoa. That's a big no thank you from me on the whole eye-squeezing thing. I'll settle for breaking a few bones while shaking the man's humongous hand, thank you very much.
With that out in the open, Björnsson was asked if he ever performs the task of lifting fans above his head. The mighty redwood tree turned Icelandic human being then said, "I don’t lift anyone. Usually just girls. I have had to say no because if I’m going to lift one person then so many others are going to ask to be lifted too. If it’s just one person, okay, but it’s crowded then I know others are going to ask. You have to try to be fair to everyone you know."
Eventually, the conversation took a turn toward The Mountain's bother, Sandor "The Hound" Clegane, and whether or not the two will fight one another before the series finale next year. Björnsson confessed that, "That’s definitely something I would like to see. And for most of the fans, it’s something they’re all waiting for. It looks like it’s going to go that way, but who knows?." Naturally, when the mountainous GAME OF THRONES star was asked about who he thinks would win in the brother-on-brother battle, he responded by saying, "I haven’t seen it yet in my head how I would kill him, but somehow I would smash his head or kill him like that. I think the fight would be quick rather than something long. I think people would be expecting a big fight but I would finish him really fast. It would be a surprise to people." The flesh-colored hulk then concluded that he believes The Mountain would win that battle "100 percent."
Be sure to catch Hafþór Júlíus "Thor" Björnsson and all of his GAME OF THRONES co-stars when the Season 7 finale makes the internet implode this Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
