If you're not entirely onboard with the upcoming Mighty Ducks revival on Disney+, then this might just change your mind. Entertainment Weekly has revealed that the sixth episode of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will serve as a massive reunion as it will feature the return of characters from all three Mighty Ducks films including Elden Henson as Fulton, Matt Doherty as Averman, Vinny La Russo as Adam Banks, Marguerite Moreau as Connie, Garret Henson as Guy, and Justin Wong as Kenny Wu.
"It starts with a fun encounter Coach Bombay [Emilio Estevez] has with Fulton — they have an interesting run-in on the street reminiscent of ways they used to meet each other back in the early days," creator Steven Brill told Entertainment Weekly. "This chance meeting between Bombay and Fulton leads to a bigger story." You can check out a series of photos courtesy of Entertainment Weekly below.
There are a few noticeable omissions, such as Joshua Jackson's Charlie, but Steven Brill said that Jackson was "too busy, just working, and the pandemic hit so it wasn't really possible with his schedule." That said, Brill hopes that Jackson is able to make an appearance in the future. As far as reuniting with his OG Mighty Ducks, Emilio Estevez was shocked to learn that the returning Ducks were all older than he was when he filmed the first movie in the early 90s. "It was fascinating to reconnect with these adults who the last time I saw were 12, 13, 14 years old," Emilio said. "When we did the first film, they all looked at me as somebody who was so much older and more seasoned, but I just turned 31 on the first one and these kids are now in their early 40s. When we did the first film especially, I felt like I was a kid too."
The official synopsis for The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers:
In the 10-episode season set in present day Minnesota, the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex (Lauren Graham), set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of youth sports today. With the help of Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game.
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will debut on Disney+ on March 26th.
