The Mean One: Unofficial Grinch horror movie will be released in theaters next month

No beloved childhood character is safe. If transforming Winne the Pooh into a slasher villain wasn’t enough for you, then you should prepare yourself for The Mean One, a “violent slasher parody” inspired by Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The unofficial take on the Christmas classic will actually be released in theaters as Atlas Film Distribution announced today that the Grinch horror movie would hit theaters in the U.S. on December 9th.

It was previously reported that The Mean One would be released online for free, which was understandable given its unofficial status, but it would appear that they’re embracing the parody aspect of the production. Directed by Steven LaMorte with a script by Flip and Finn Kobler, The Mean One stars David Howard Thornton (Terrifier 2) as “a hairy, green-skinned grump in a Santa suit, living on a mountain high above the town of Newville, despising the holiday season. Young Cindy You-Know-Who (Krystle Martin), whose parents were butchered by The Mean One twenty Christmases earlier, is returning to town to seek closure… but when the Mean One launches a new reign of terror that threatens to destroy Christmas, Cindy finds a bold new purpose – trapping and killing the monster.” The Grinch horror movie also stars Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler, and Amy Schumacher. As for the Winnie the Pooh horror movie, Blood and Honey will follow Pooh and Piglet as they go on a rampage after being abandoned. “Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult,” Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield said. “Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral. So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.” Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey will be released in theaters next year, and the director is also working on a sequel as well as a “twisted horror take” on Peter Pan.
