Marvel Studios has released the final trailer for The Marvels just prior to its release in a few days. While the trailers prior to this one have emphasized the comedy and the dysfunctional dynamic between Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, this final one emphasizes the drama of the looming threat on the universe. The trailer connects to the events of Avengers: Endgame as the clips imply that Thanos’ work will not go unfinished. It also calls back to the nostalgic days of Avengers with clips of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.
The official synopsis reads,
In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.
The film stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta has taken the helm with directing duties, and Kevin Feige is, of course, on board as the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos, and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers of this entry in the phase five film. The screenplay was written by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells.
The new trailer also teases something big with text that reads, “Be there for the moment that changes everything.” And in an interesting clip, mysterious figures appear to arrive through a Bifrost-esque portal while Nick Fury proclaims, “They’re here.” Then, we get a small glimpse of a superhero-costumed figure walking past Monica. Could this be some cameos of past MCU characters? Could it be the introduction of the Fantastic Four? Or the X-Men?
The Marvels will hit theaters on November 10.
