The Mandalorian: Carl Weathers teases more action and scope in his season 3 episode

Carl Weathers plays Greef Karga in The Mandalorian but the actor also stepped behind the camera to direct an episode last season. Chapter 12: The Siege involved Mando reuniting with Greef and Cara Dune to help destroy an old Imperial base on Nevarro. Weathers will be returning for The Mandalorian season 3, not only to play Greef, but also to helm another episode.

While speaking with Empire, Carl Weathers teases that his latest directorial outing in The Mandalorian season 3 will be bigger and better than his first.

Oh there was a bit more [action], I think, in this one. [It’s] a little different [to ‘The Siege’], because a lot of it had a lot more scope. But this one also had many, many different kinds of stories within the story, and that’s really nice.

Carl Weathers added that he loves directing, particularly on The Mandalorian. “This show gives you so much opportunity to deal with all these different characters,” Weathers said. “Even though they’re different episodes, it’s not like typical episodic television – it’s not a whodunnit, it’s not a dark comedy, it’s not a procedural. It’s so many different things, and it’s action-adventure on top of that. As a director, you get a chance to exercise your talent, and also your ability to deliver in those different areas.

The third season of The Mandalorian is obviously being kept under wraps but has been teased as bigger and better than what’s come before. As much as I might want to know more details, one of the most exciting elements of the series has been the monumental surprises that the team has managed to keep under wraps each season. Jon Favreau revealed that he’s already hard at work writing the scripts for the fourth season, meaning that there’s plenty more Star Wars on the way. The Mandalorian season 3 will debut on Disney+ in February 2023.
