It was just last week when it was announced that Gina Carano, who played Rebel shock-trooper Cara Dune on The Mandalorian, would no longer be employed by Lucasfilm due to a series of controversial social-media posts. It now seems that Carano's termination has also resulted in Hasbro scrapping its Cara Dune action-figures, notably the six-inch figure from the Star Wars: The Black Series line.
Retailer BigBadToyStore reached out to THR to say that they've had to cancel pre-orders for the Cara Dune figure as Hasbro won't be making any more.
The Star Wars Black Cara Dune figure was released in 2020 and sold out not long after the inventory was received. Hasbro planned for another production run and we were accepting pre-orders from that production run. Due to recent events, Hasbro was no longer approved to produce any more of this figure.
Although Gina Carano may not be involved with Lucasfilm any longer and has been dropped as a client by UTA, she already has another project in the works as she recently revealed that she's developing a new film with The Daily Wire, a conservative news website. "The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true," Carano said. "I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them." Prior to Carano's firing, there had even been talk that Lucasfilm was planning on giving Cara Dune a standalone show of her own, but that dream is over.
