SPOILERS for The Mandalorian. Although Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) has been pursuing Baby Yoda since the very beginning of The Mandalorian, audiences haven't been entirely sure why, but the latest episode of the STAR WARS series has certainly shed a little light on Moff Gideon's intentions.

The latest episode of The Mandalorian, titled The Siege, found Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), and Cara Dune (Gina Carano) setting out to destroy an old Imperial base on Nevarro. Upon infiltrating the building, they discover that the scientists have been conducting some sort of cloning experiments and find a recording from Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi) which references the "M-count" of the genetic material that was harvested from Baby Yoda in the previous season. At the close of the episode, we find Moff Gideon in the midst of a number of menacing new stormtroopers. In addition to appearing as Greef Karga, Carl Weathers also directed the episode and recently spoke with Empire to tease just how dangerous these new troopers will be.

They’re not just souped-up. Man, they are on uber-steroids, let’s put it that way. I remember Muhammad Ali said, '…and I'm a baaaad man!' Well guess what? Moff Gideon is a baaaad man, you know? He has plans, and I gotta tell you, I think anyone in the path is going to find trouble. You look at that scene, and particularly the very last shot when I pull back and you reveal, ‘Oh my goodness, man!’. It's like walking into the hall of mirrors at an amusement park. It just goes on and on forever.

It's been said that Moff Gideon is after Baby Yoda in order to harvest his midi-chlorians and create an army of Force-sensitive warriors, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. You can check out a review of the latest episode of The Mandalorian from our own Alex Maidy right here, and the next episode, which is rumoured to finally re-introduce Ahsoka Tano, is slated to debut on Disney+ on November 27th.
