IT: CHAPTER TWO will bring The Losers' Club back to Derry in order to take on the psychotic entity known as Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard) once more. Although the young cast of the previous film will still be involved in flashbacks, the sequel takes place nearly thirty years later and will feature Jessica Chastain as Beverly, Bill Hader as Richie, James McAvoy as Bill, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, James Ransone as Eddie, Jay Ryan as Ben, and Andy Bean as Stanley. Entertainment Weekly has revealed a handful of new photos from the upcoming film which feature the now-adult members of The Losers' Club, in addition to two covers for their special Comic-Con issue.
The first film turned out to be more successful than anyone expected, and that success gave director Andy Muschietti a boost while shooting IT: CHAPTER TWO. "In general, I feel more comfortable. I have more toys," said Muschietti. "On the first one, I was struggling to get a Technocrane [a massive telescopic crane for a camera] on certain days. But now the Technocrane is always there! I think that everything that people love from the first one, like the humor and the emotions and the horror, will all be there, and cranked up, in some cases."
Mike Hanlon (Isaiah Mustafa) stayed behind in Derry, where he now works as a librarian, while the other members of The Losers' Club departed. "Mike sees how Derry is very special in a dark way," said Mustafa. "He’s trying to figure out what the hell’s going on in this town and what he can do to put an end to this cycle. It’s an obsession for him." Mike reaches out to his childhood friends, but unfortunately, they've all forgotten the traumatic events of their childhood. "When you leave Derry, something happens where you forget it all," said James McAvoy. "I think it’s like a [power] of Pennywise’s. Because if everybody could remember what he gets up to every 27 years through history, we’d go, ‘Hey, Derry’s really f—ed up, we should do something about that. We should send in the f—ing Army!'"
IT: CHAPTER TWO is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2019.
