The lord of the apes swings into action in first Legend of Tarzan trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Earlier today the first poster for THE LEGEND OF TARZAN was unveiled and now we finally have the pleasure of witnessing David Yates' Tarzan epic in action. The film stars Alexander Skarsgard as the titular character as well as Margot Robbie as Jane, but instead of focusing on the traditional Tarzan story of a man being raised by apes, THE LEGEND OF TARZAN will take place a decade after Tarzan, now John Clayon III, left his home in the Congo and began living the life of a British gentleman in 1880's Victorian London.

"He's Tarzan, you're Jane, he'll come for you."

I'll be honest, my first thought as the trailer drew to a close was "that doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it'd be." Although the film takes place years after Tarzan has left the jungle behind, THE LEGEND OF TARZAN will still feature plenty of vine-swinging and cliff-jumping action once Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) and Jane (Margot Robbie) make their return to the Congo. Skarsgard previously teased that THE LEGEND OF TARZAN is "almost the opposite of the classic tale, where it’s about taming the beast, this is about a man who’s holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out." THE LEGEND OF TARZAN hits theaters on July 1, 2016.

What do you folks thinks, does THE LEGEND OF TARZAN look more promising than you'd imagined?
