John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN is many things, but a family-friendly romp it is not. Well, HALLOWEEN KILLS director David Gordon Green is aiming to change that with "The Legend of Halloween," an illustrated children's book version of the classic film that will be the perfect treat for fans of (almost) all ages. Based on the screenplay by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, "The Legend of Halloween" was co-written by David Gordon Green and Onur Tukel, who also provided the illustrations.

"Joining this iconic franchise has been one of the most fulfilling artistic endeavours of my career," David Gordon Green said in a statement. "With this new chapter, we hope to share our own love for Halloween with a new generation of horror fanatics." In his own statement, co-writer/illustrator Onur Tukel added, "I saw the original Halloween when I was about nine years old and it scared the wits out of me. I’ve seen it about fifty times since then and it continues to be my favorite horror film. The mask, the music, the indelible characters, the monologues of pure evil – to me it’s cinematic perfection. Collaborating with David on a children’s book adaptation of Halloween has been demented and surreal, kind of like being simultaneously possessed by Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein and the demon Pazuza." You can check out more illustrations from the upcoming book below courtesy of an animated trailer from Blumhouse.

"The Legend of Halloween" doesn't have an official release date just yet, but it's expected to launch mid-November. Our next dose of Michael Myers on the big-screen will arrive when HALLOWEEN KILLS (hopefully) hits theaters on October 15, 2021.
