The post-production process has begun on director Howard J. Ford's thriller THE LEDGE, which filmed in Serbia last month. Brittany Ashworth stars, and is no stranger to genre work – her previous credits including EXHIBIT A, THE CRUCIFIXION, and HOSTILE. In this one, Ashworth plays
a young woman who finds herself in a free-climbing chase up a freezing mountain, pursued by a group of murderous men who have just thrown her companion off the mountain ledge.
Want some more information? Here's a longer synopsis:
Having left her friend Sophie with a group of men they had met earlier, Kelly is woken by her screams. Grabbing her GoPro to help her see in the dark, she runs towards her friend's cry for help just in time to see her lifeless body thrown from a ledge. Terrified, she turns and runs through the camp grabbing whatever climbing gear she can. Desperately she begins free-climbing the foot of the mountain, the men close behind. As days turn to freezing nights, she finds herself both mentally and physically exhausted in her efforts to avoid the murderous pack.
Ashworth is joined in the cast by Ben Lamb, Louis Boyer, Nathan Welsh, David Wayman, and Anais Parello.
The screenplay was written by Tom Boyle. THE LEDGE was financed by Head Gear and produced by Kate Hoffman and Fred Hedman of Evolution Pictures, along with Milos Djukelic of Red Production.
GFM Films Sales is handling the project's worldwide rights and so far has found distributors in multiple territories, including North America, France, Germany, Spain, Benelux, Portugal, former Yugoslavia, Australia and New Zealand, Middle East, Korea and Vietnam, China, India, and Taiwan.
THE LEDGE sounds to me like it's one to keep an eye on as it heads through post and toward release. Ashworth shared some pictures from the shoot on her Instagram, and a few of those can be seen right here:
