Whether he's replacing Porgs as the cutest creature in the Star Wars universe, comparing skincare routines with ageless actor Paul Rudd, or judgmentally sipping soup, THE MANDALORIAN's Baby Yoda has undoubtedly arrived at the Meme Lord of 2019.
As the internet continues to find new and creative ways to have Baby Yoda burn Boomers and push the buttons of those who're tightly wound, one Star Wars fan by the name of Gareth Wood has transported Baby Yoda and his helmeted heath care giver, The Mandalorian, into a 1980s sitcom. Complete with a cheesy theme song, the tongue-in-cheek edit finds the duo involved in a series of hapless scenarios, each more endearing and ridiculous as the last. Not only will the clever intro give you those nostalgic 1980s vibes, it'll remind you of just how far we've come from the age of grainy resolution and nightmare fonts that should never have remained in the era of neon pants and futures so bright that people had to wear shades.

Reception to Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN has been overwhelmingly positive thus far, with fans of the Lone Wolf and Cub-like Star Wars drama being seemingly more impressed as each episode comes to pass. The latest installment in the series was directed by none other than JURASSIC WORLD actress Bryce Dallas Howard, who delivered one of the best chapters yet for the Star Wars spin-off. In the episode, we find Pedro Pascal's Mando and Gina Carano's Cara Dune defending a community made up of fisherman who're reluctant to leave their ancestral home. With little choice but to help save the encampment, Mando and his army of mostly inexperienced warriors take up arms, and work together to beat back their oppressors. The episode is filled with tender moments as we bear witness to Mando's desire to give up his helmet, and live the rest of his life in peace among the people of the fishing community.
Back in September, Howard spoke with Entertainment Weekly about being given the opportunity to direct an episode of THE MANDALORIAN.
"Getting to be a director, part of The Mandalorian, it’s been like…Jon [Favreau] didn’t even know that about me," said Howard. "It was a dream come true on so many levels. He’s a brilliant filmmaker, but a better mentor — he just wants to share in the excitement and passion of filmmaking and what’s possible. Nothing about it that’s proprietary. It’s let’s push this forward and see what else can happen. I was doing Dads at the same time I was shooting Mandalorian and the stuff I was learning from Jon Favreau was completely applicable to a documentary."
Then in November, Howard took to her personal Instagram account to share more of her thoughts and heartfelt thanks with fans,
“It’s been a surreal and exhilarating experience getting to direct in the Star Wars universe!” she wrote. “Thank you always and forever to George for starting it all, @dave.filoni for being our oracle, everyone at @lucasfilm, all the fans who came out last night to celebrate this next chapter, and a deep thank you to the entire Star Wars family for making this possible! Last, but very much so not least, thank you @jonfavreau for giving me a shot, for mentoring me, for inspiring and empowering every soul on set, and for dreaming big for all of us… @themandalorian is streaming now on @disneyplus.”
