The Last Knight is absolutely Michael Bay’s final Transformers movie

If you could see me now you'd witness just how far a person's eyes can roll back into their head. This isn't anywhere close to the first time that Michael Bay has said he was done with TRANSFORMERS, but apparently he is absolutely, completely, totally stepping away away from the franchise after TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT…for realsies. Forgive me if I don't hold my breath. This is what Michael Bay had to say when Fandango asked him whether THE LAST KNIGHT really would be his final outing.

These movies that I've done, they are massive movies. They take a lot out of you. I've done it enough, and I've had a great time doing it. I'm going out with a bang on this one, and I feel like you gotta go out while you're ahead, you know. I think I've had a good run, and I've got a lot of other movies I want to do.

Without a TRANSFORMERS movie in his future, Michael Bay said that he'd like mix it up a bit and tackle something a little more adult. "I just read a very bloody hit man movie that was a page turner. That seems like a fun one to do," Bay said. "I love doing 13 Hours, I love doing Pain & Gain — I think it'll be something more serious and more adult, I guess." One possibility that Bay teased was a return to a BAD BOYS-type of buddy action/comedy, in fact, he will soon have a meeting with the pair of actors he has in mind.

There are a couple of new guys I want to work with, and maybe pair them up together. Not that they'd necessarily be action stars, but they potentially could be. They're quite humorous. I'm not going to say who they are because I haven't met them yet, but we'll see.

With Joe Carnahan having to drop out of BAD BOYS FOR LIFE due to scheduling issues, you might think that Michael Bay would return to the franchise which launched his career, but Bay doesn't seem to think that's in the cards.

Pretty soon they're going to be old boys, okay. Pretty soon they're going to be retired cops instead of active-duty cops. It's taken a long time to get that thing going, and I'm not involved in getting it going. They should get it going soon, though. You could definitely get Martin and Will to be funny again — those were fun movies to do.

TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT will hit theaters on June 21st.
