While Netflix unleashes a relentless barrage of shows at us it’s hard for any one of them to stand out from the pack. Of course, there are shows like STRANGER THINGS, HOUSE OF CARDS and ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, but last year a new show called GLOW lit up the stage and won our hearts. The show is based on the real 80s all-female wrestling show, taking a fictionalized approach to a behind-the-scenes story. Now the ladies are back for season two and are totally jazzed in the first teaser.

In the video we find the women suiting up for a night of wrestling, and have found some time to record a lip-sync video featuring the hit 80s song “Maniac” by Michael Sembello. The ladies (including Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin and more) are having a ball, that is until Marc Maron’s Sam comes in asking “What’s going on here? What is this?!” Still, their fire cannot be contained, and the show goes on!
Here is the season’s synopsis:
Season 2 follows the women of GLOW as they become local celebrities, confronting the good, the bad, and the ugly realities of their newfound fame. As Ruth (Alison Brie) and Debbie (Betty Gilpin) settle into the day-to-day of making a season of TV together, they confront lingering issues at the heart of their friendship. Sam (Marc Maron) is still Sam, but now he has a teenage daughter living with him and twenty episodes to churn out. The wrestling is harder, the stakes are higher, and the hair is even bigger.

I don’t find myself watching most of Netflix’s stuff, but GLOW was a show I had a lot of fun with and got more out of than I expected, thanks to great work from Brie and Maron. Hopefully, the second season will be just as good with plenty of gorgeous ladies wrestling and Maron being the curmudgeon that keeps it all afloat.
GLOW season two arrives June 29.
