The Kominsky Method gets renewed for a second season by Netflix

Coming close to two weeks after The Kominsky Method took home the awards for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy (for Michael Douglas), Netflix have announced that they have renewed the Chuck Lorre comedy series for a second season.

The Kominsky Method follows the once famous Sandy Kominsky (Michael Douglas) and his longtime friend/agent Norman Newlander (Alan Arkin) as they navigate the ups and downs of life with humour, dignity, and some prostate trouble – reminding us that some friendships never get old. Production on the second season, which will once again consist of eight-episodes, is slated to begin later this month in Los Angeles. In addition to Douglas and Arkin, Sarah Baker and Nancy Travis will also return as series regulars.

In his review of The Kominsky Method, our own Alex Maidy confessed that there are few TV shows which he dislikes more than The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, both series created by Chuck Lorre, so it came as somewhat of a surprise when he discovered that he loved The Kominsky Method. "The Kominsky Method may look like it won't appeal to younger audiences but I assure you that this is a series worth your time. Netflix is the perfect platform for Chuck Lorre, who helmed every episode, to not have to shy away from profanity or adult subject matter and presents a portrait of two life-long friends as they enter the twilight of their lives," Maidy said. "This is a series that will appeal to fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm as it mocks the California lifestyle but also to fans of well-acted and well made stories that can blend humor and serious subject matter without sacrificing the quality of either." I haven't watched the series yet myself, but perhaps I need to check it out.

What about you? Are you excited for another season of The Kominsky Method?
