The King’s Daughter: Pierce Brosnan is royalty in this exclusive clip

The King’s Daughter is an interesting case. Shot way back in 2014, the star-studded film was initially bankrolled by Paramount Pictures. Yet, once the movie wrapped, the release date kept getting shuffled around until it was finally taken off the calendar altogether.

Now, about eight years after filming wrapped, the movie is finally hitting theatres, with Gravitas Ventures giving it a 2000 screen-wide release on Friday, January 21st. The movie stars Pierce Brosnan, Kaya Scodelario (who later married co-star Benjamin Walker), Rachel Griffiths, Bingbing Fan and William Hurt, with narration by Mary Poppins herself, Julie Andrews.

We’ve got an exclusive clip to whet your appetite for what’s really the only game in town starting next week, with tons of movies being delayed in the wake of Omicron. Check out the clip above.

The King’s Daughter, which is directed by Soul Surfer‘s Sean McNamara and based on the fantasy novel “The Moon and the Sun,” has the following synopsis:

King Louis XIV’s (Brosnan) quest for immortality leads him to capture a mermaid’s (Fan) life force, but his immovable will is challenged when his long-hidden illegitimate daughter (Scodelario) forms a bond with the magical creature.

Curious to see why Paramount shelved the movie for so long? Or are you looking for a little low-key family entertainment on the big screen? Either way, The King’s Daughter hits a theatre near you Friday, January 21st.
