I'm sure you all know by now that STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS has brought in a few handfuls of change at the box-office as well as breaking all sorts of records. Our own Dave Davis has already broken it down in his Weekend Box Office Report, but one of the records STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS broke was the highest domestic opening record previously held by JURASSIC WORLD. Over the three-day weekend, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS made $247.9 million (bringing the worldwide total to $524.9 million) which easily surpassed JURASSIC WORLD's $208.8 million.
What's all this leading to? Well, Frank Marshall, executive-producer of JURASSIC WORLD, took to Twitter to congratulate the STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS team with a rather cute image.
Cheers to J.J., Kathy, the cast and crew, and DIS/LFL marketing teams! #TheForceAwakens @Disney @StarWars @Bad_Robot pic.twitter.com/oa0zwuAb2Q

I always enjoy these sort of friendly well wishes shared between "rivals", and this isn't the first time that the Star Wars franchise has received such congratulations; Steven Spielberg sent George Lucas a similar note when STAR WARS surpassed JAWS as the highest-grossing film of all time back in 1977. As JURASSIC WORLD director Colin Trevorrow is set to helm STAR WARS: EPISODE IX, he may very well have the chance to take the record back.
STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is currently in theaters and will likely break a few more records before its time is done.
