The Jokesters will get the last laugh on DVD and VOD July 21st

On July 21st, one week from today, Random Media and Cinedigm will be releasing director AJ Wedding's THE JOKESTERS on DVD, Digital HD, and On Demand.

The film stars Nathan Reid, Gabriel Tigerman, Luis Jose Lopez, Dante Spencer, and Jen Yeager, and has the following synopsis:

The "Prankmasters" are an Internet pranking sensation, who decide to take it to the extreme for their series finale. When their leader, Ethan, announces that he is getting married and leaving the life of pranks behind, the team plans on a fitting going away present. They decide to pull off one final stunt that turns their friend's honeymoon into a "Cabin in the Woods" nightmare. What happens next is a descent into terror.

Special features on the DVD will include a "Making Of" featurette, behind-the-scenes footage, bloopers, and trailers.

THE JOKESTERS seems to be an interesting movie. While the shaky "found footage" style on display is a bit off-putting, the reason for the characters to be lugging around cameras makes sense, and I like that the film appears to have a sense of humor before things go dark. While the synopsis references CABIN IN THE WOODS, I'm thinking this might be more along the lines of a horror take on VERY BAD THINGS, an idea which I find quite intriguing.
