The Iron Claw: Jeremy Allen White of The Bear set to co-star with Zac Efron as the wrestling family, The Von Erichs

Jeremy Allen White has recently made a name for himself with the brand new hit series on FX, The Bear. The breakout star is now was first brought to the audiences’ attention on the series finale of the Showtime original, ShamelessThe Bear was such a surprise hit that it not only earned White critical praise and is expected to put him up for an Emmy nomination come next awards season, but the show has already been renewed for a second year.

As The Bear takes its break before filming of the next season starts, White has looked to secure his first big film project since the show put him on the map. Deadline reports that the movie he’s been tapped to star in is The Iron Claw, which he will also be co-starring in with Zac Efron and Harris Dickinson. The Iron Claw tells the story of the wrestling family of the Von Erichs. The film will follow the dynasty’s rise to fame and their major influence on the professional wrestling scene from the 60s all the way to the present day. White is set to play Kerry Von Erich while Efron will portray Kevin Von Erich, and Dickinson is cast as David Von Erich.

The film is set to be produced by indie studio darling A24. The film will be written and directed by Sean Durkin, known for writing and directing Martha Marcy May Marlene. Along with A24, the movie will be produced by Access Entertainment and BBC Films and was developed by House Productions. Producers on the film include Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger, and Harrison Huffman.

Little details are currently known on the project, but this comes off the heels of Efron’s recent statements about the pains of building his physique for the film Baywatch, where he will surely need to pump up his physique to match that of a professional wrestler for this project.

The Bear can currently be streamed on Hulu and FX streaming apps.
