Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have announced a release date for their reboot of the classic horror film THE INVISIBLE MAN… and the date they have gone with is kind of shocking, because it seems like a really bad choice. Universal and Blumhouse are planning to get THE INVISIBLE MAN into theatres on March 13, 2020 – which happens to be the date Warner Bros. has already chosen for the release of their monster mash GODZILLA VS. KONG.
I don't know why they want the same exact date Godzilla and Kong are already sitting on, but I would be surprised if both films do end up coming out on the same day.
THE INVISIBLE MAN will begin filming in Sydney, Australia this July. Elisabeth Moss has signed on to star in the film as
Cecilia, who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide, and begins to rebuild her life for the better, but her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.
Moss is joined in the cast by Storm Reid in the role of Sydney.
With her mother gone, she’s picked up the maternal slack and is capable and mature for her age. She’s an outgoing lover of fashion who aspires to see the world, and she initially likes having Cecilia around as a role model but grows mistrustful of her when strange things begin to happen around the house.
It has been reported that Armie Hammer and Alexander Skarsgard (who also happens to be in GODZILLA VS. KONG) are a couple of the actors being considered for the role of Adrian Griffin,
a billionaire sociopath who made his money by developing an invisibility suit for the Department of Defense.
With just over a month left before filming begins, we should be hearing who has been cast as Adrian Griffin very soon.
