Over a year has gone by since we heard that Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) and Kate Bosworth (Before I Wake) were starring in the “sexy thriller” The Immaculate Room for Vehicle 19 writer/director Mukunda Michael Dewil, and now we finally have some good news to share about the film’s release. Deadline reports that Screen Media has acquired the North American distribution rights, and they’re planning to give the film a day-and-date theatrical and VOD release in the second half of 2022.
The Immaculate Room follows
a seemingly perfect couple who take part in a psychological experiment that will reward them $5M if they can stay in a perfectly white room for 50 days. But the room is much more than it seems, and a hidden past and private demons will reveal shameful truths that they may not survive.
Hirsch and Bosworth are joined in the cast by Ashley Greene (The Twilight Saga) and M. Emmet Walsh (Blood Simple).
Doug Murray of Productivity Media, Daniel Baur of K5 International, and Joel David Moore of Balcony 9 produced The Immaculate Room, with National Picture Show’s Max Osswald co-producing. Productivity Media’s William G. Santor and Ryan Reaney served as executive producers.
Santor described The Immaculate Room as “an intelligent, sexy, humanist thriller for our time” and said it takes its cue from critical and commercial successes like Black Mirror, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and Ex Machina.
Screen Media provided the following statement:
The Immaculate Room is a clever, constantly surprising sci-fi thriller. It was a joy to work with such talented filmmakers, cast and crew that made this nightmare come to life.”
We’ll let you know when the company announces the specific release date for the film. The Immaculate Room sounds interesting to me. Hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer to see a trailer for it so we can have an idea of what happens in that room over the course of fifty days.
