Now this is what I’m talking about. Good, crazy ass fun. THE HUMAN RACE might be a little new to some of you but if you’ve heard of Paul Hough’s THE ANGEL then you know just what kind of fun THE HUMAN RACE could be.
Direct (and writer and producer) Paul Hough has introduced some concept art for his new film THE HUMAN RACE. Dread Central reports on that update so click on the image below and you’ll be re-directed to a larger image. THE HUMAN RACE revolves around the character of Veronica, a woman who suddenly finds herself in a surreal and horrifying marathon race, where the rules are simple – ‘If you are lapped, you die. If you step off the path, you die. One hundred will start but only one will cross the finish line alive.
Oh yeah and I can probably image it gets crazier as the flick moves along. The entire film was independently financed through the creative efforts of Paul Hough and his crew. It stars Paul McCarthy-Boyington (ALTERED), Trista Robinson (BREATH OF HATE) and actors Eddie McGee and Celine Tien. Fun fact: Both McGee and Tien worked with Hough on a previous thriller/action short called THE ANGEL which also won best short film at the London Sci-Fi Film Festival and the Fant-Asia Film Festival.
Hough dropped a few words regarding McGee’s reprising role in THE HUMAN RACE: “When Eddie heard of the role (in THE HUMAN RACE), he jumped at it without hesitation. He is a fearless actor, and inspired both The Angel and The Human Race. In fact, I can safely say that in The Human Race I put him through more hell than ever before, and he is remarkable.”
Produced by Hough along with Geza Decsy (the duo teamed previously on the celebrated documentary The Backyard) and Bryan Coyne, Trip Hope and John and Jamie Hough. Tom Devlin will be mastering the special effects AKA gore. After this project Hough mentioned that he had a few other works in store: “I’m working as a producer with my long time collaborator Geza Decsy on a horror-survival feature,” said Hough, “as well as directing a UFO movie.”
The Human Race shot for a total of thirty days in Los Angeles over the course of the last year and a half, commencing with a fourteen day shoot at a prison in Whittier, CA.
