According to The Hollywood Reporter, HOST 2, the sequel to Bong Goon-Ho’s monster flick is being prepared as a not only a future investment but a 3D project as well. So the film that became the highest-grossing Korean film of all time is going get an extra boost when you add the 3D ticket passes in.
“Given the nature of the film and the current trends in the global film market, we think that 3D is the medium to go,” said Su-yeon Kim at the company’s international business division. “But this will delay the film’s release date and bring significant changes to the film’s logistics.”
Word is that the sequel’s CG will still be right on the nail. South Korean VFX firm Macrograph will continue to master the Visual Effectsand will reveal some footage at TIFFCOM.
“We learned that Korean VFX technology is more than capable of handling scenes that involve intricate CG scenes,” Kim said. “That and the reputation of the film’s original will be the film’s major selling point.”
As plans to re-schedule practically everything move the film to different dates, you can expect the film to have a Summer 2012 release. Excited? Bummed? You tell us.
