A little while back, Netflix announced that they picked up the worldwide rights to THE GUILTY, Jake Gyllenhaal and Antonine Fuqua's upcoming remake of the 2018 Danish thriller, for a cool $30 million. Fuqua, of course, had previously worked with Gyllenhaal on SOUTHPAW, and now it looks like the director is bringing on some of his heavy-hitting former collaborators to co-star. Deadline has revealed that Ethan Hawke, who earned an Oscar nomination for working with Fuqua on TRAINING DAY has officially joined the cast alongside his THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (another Fuqua flick) co-star Peter Sarsgaard.

Additionally, Riley Keough, who's about to blow minds in her upcoming A24 film ZOLA (read my review) has also joined the ensemble cast, which includes Bill Burr (generating Oscar buzz for THE KING OF STATEN ISLAND), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (DOLEMITE IS MY NAME) and Paul Dano.

According to the official logline, THE GUILTY "takes place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center. Call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) tries to save a caller in grave danger-but he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out."

The film is being adapted from Gustav Moller's original film by "True Detective" mastermind Nic Pizzolatto, and is slated to kick off production later this year.
