The Green Knight interviews: Dev Patel, Joel Edgerton discuss fantasy film

A24 is giving a theatrical release to writer/director David Lowery's fantasy adventure film The Green Knight tomorrow, July 30th, and in anticipation of the release our own Eric Walkuski was able to have a conversation with stars Dev Patel and Joel Edgerton about their experience making the film. You can check out the video interview in the embed above. Topics covered include the fact that you don't see movies like this very often these days, the difficulties Patel endured during his character's journey, and how Edgerton felt about his own character.

Described as "an epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend", The Green Knight also stars Alicia Vikander, Barry Keoghan, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Erin Kellyman, and Ralph Ineson. The story centers on

Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger.

Lowery produced The Green Knight with Toby Halbrooks, Tim Headington, James M. Johnston, and Theresa Steele Page. Jason Cloth, Tomas Deckaj, Aaron L. Gilbert, Macdara Kelleher, and Ashley Levinson served as executive producers. Jeanie Igoe co-produced, and Edmund Sampson was the line producer.

The film is rated R for "violence, some sexuality, and graphic nudity" – and "graphic nudity" is the Motion Picture Association's way of saying that you should expect to see some penis in there at some point.
