There are few things that keep me up at night like thinking about how much money JURASSIC WORLD made (next up are spiders, clowns and one-ply toilet paper). The reboot featuring giant prehistoric lizards with pointy teeth stands as the fourth highest-grossing movie of all time, and the sequel will do similar gigantic business. So if you’re an up-and-coming actor getting a shot at JURASSIC WORLD 2 is the greatest thing that could probably ever happen to you. If we want to know if that's true all we have to do is ask the lucky gentleman who just got the role of a lifetime.
THR got the scoop that THE GET DOWN’s Justice Smith has been cast in the anticipated follow-up which will see the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Smith is one of actors added to the sequel, with two others that were mentioned being Toby Jones and Rafe Spall, who were said to be up for parts back in November.
Smith hasn’t done much notable work outside of DOWN, the hit Baz Luhrmann show on Netflix about teens living in the Bronx during the 1970’s. Other than that he had a role in PAPER TOWNS, but WORLD will most likely be the movie to put the young talent on the map.
THE GET DOWN is a show I have yet to check out, but from the trailers and stills looks like an interesting show. On that note I can’t speak to Smith’s abilities, but taking on a starring role for DOWN was probably no easy feat, so I’m sure he’ll do a great job with whatever WORLD 2 director J.A. Bayona has in store for him. But seeing as how they’re trying to do a more “suspenseful and scary” movie, there’s no telling what they will throw at him. Run now, dude! Forget stardom and get out of there while you can!
JURASSIC WORLD 2 is set for June 22, 2018.
