The Gentlemen TV series is close to a green light at Netflix with Ritchie on board

Grab your rolling papers and get ready for more crime-inspired shenanigans because Netflix is closing in on The Gentlemen TV series from Guy Ritchie. Ritchie co-wrote the pilot, will direct the first two episodes and is executive producing. Miramax TV is producing alongside Moonage in the UK.

Did you know that The Gentlemen was supposed to be a television series before it became a feature film? It’s true, and now the property is going back to its roots. Released in 2019, The Gentlemen tells the story of an American ex-pat who tries to sell off his highly profitable marijuana empire in London, triggering plots, schemes, bribery, and blackmail in an attempt to steal his domain out from under him. In addition to Matthew McConaughey, the film also starred Colin Farrell, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, and Hugh Grant.

Joining Ritchie as executive producers on The Gentlemen TV series are Ivan Atkinson, Marn Davies, and Bill Block. Marc Helwig executive produces for Miramax TV, with Will Gould and Matthew Read for Moonage Pictures.

Getting The Gentlemen TV series off the ground was one of Helwig’s priorities when he joined Miramax in 2020. His goal is to mine Miramax’s extensive library for content that will translate into worthwhile TV series.

The Gentlemen TV series is still in the early stages of development. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as the deal is done and when we can expect casting announcements to begin.
